Science Project

Greetings to friends!

My Granddaughter Kylie is working on a special Science-type project right now. It may take a
couple years to complete but she is very excited about this. And here is where we need
help:

A map of the USA is now glued to a large matt board and she will put squeeze liquid leading
around each state. Once dry, she is needing a small amount of soil from each state to glue
down over that state. Yes I know some states have different soils so if more than one
person wants to send for each state that is just fine. And she would love to find some
different colored soils too if you have any. We have a few from my trip to/from Michigan but
we do not have much.
In a  jewelry size zip lock bag, you fill it with soil and use a marker to write on the bag which
state it is from. Then enclose a paper with your name, state and where in the state you got it
from. If you have any special notes to include, please do so. She will be filling out a journal
and recording all this information.

This is not a project for any school, but rather something she is very interested in. Plus she
is a rock collector which is another project you can help with if you are willing. I do not want
to pay much shipping, so do not send a rock if it costs too much. This is for a rock garden
she is having fun with at Gramma's home. The rocks we have been collecting are about
hand size (smaller is okay but not too tiny) and she will paint the name of the state on it,
then put it in a little flower garden she is working on. Some family members
have given her rocks from out west on their travels and they are
larger than we are asking for. I am willing to paypal you the cost of
shipping as long as it is only a few dollars to do so. I do not have
much income at this time, so this is a project we are just needing
help with for anyone willing to do so. To the right is a list of each
state (and a few Canadian and Mexican cities on the map) where
we need soil. Once we have some I will make a note next to it,
but you are still welcome to send some if you like. Let's get this
little girl into Science in a fun way!

Right now we are working on just USA w/ a tiny amount into Canada and Mexico. Later she
would love to do other parts of the world, but I cannot yet afford to pay for anything there.
Maybe when she is a bit older. She is almost 9 right now. THANK YOU

If your state has a state rock that is special, please consider getting or buying a small one
for her collection. I will  pay for this. (like Michigan has Petosky stone but you have to go
north to a souvenir shop to get one). And like Michigan, we have the UP and I would love
soil from this area to go with the dirt from the lower end. I have heard about green soil in
parts of Tennessee and part of black sand from Hawaii. I have seen (as a kid) gold dust in
parts of California where the old gold rushes were. All of these would make her map really
special. I am hoping to get many people interested in helping her with this. Thank you for
